Woman gives birth to daughter on hard shoulder A13 on way to hospital

A woman gave birth to a daughter on Sunday afternoon on the hard shoulder of the A13 motorway, near the exit to Delft. Together with her partner, the woman was on her way to the hospital, with the midwife driving behind them.

On the way, however, it became clear that the delivery would take place before the hospital was reached, so both drivers parked the car on the side of the road. The baby was then born on the side of the road, with the police and ambulance being called for assistance. The latter eventually took mother and daughter to a nearby hospital.
