After a long, unsatisfactory search for good shoes for their children, founders Anna Yona and her husband Ran started Wildling Shoes in 2015: minimal (or ‘barefoot’) shoes that encourage a natural gait. The German brand offers a collection of lightweight, ergonomic unisex shoes for children and adults, with the comfort of walking barefoot. The remarkably thin sole of between 1.5 and 4.5 millimeters is based on the Japanese jika-tabi shoe and ensures that feet can move flexibly and freely, resulting in better balance and muscle building.

The shoes are handmade in Portugal and consist of environmentally friendly materials such as organic cotton, hemp, linen, wool, recycled rubber and recycled cork. As a certified B Corp, Wildling Shoes is committed to fair production conditions and employee well-being. More info: www.wildling.shoes

ANNA AND RAN YONA

Wildling Shoes was founded in 2015 by Anna Yona and her husband Ran. Together they have three children, who grew up running barefoot in Israel. When they moved to Germany, a challenging search for suitable shoes for the children began.

In the absence of models that met the requirements in terms of freedom of movement, sustainable materials and fair production, the idea of Wildling Shoes was born.

Anna Yona is a passionate activist. As a child she wanted to become a Greenpeace activist, journalist or forest ranger. After a career in marketing and journalism, she started out of her passion and love for nature together with her husband Ran Wildling Shoes.

Ran Yona is a sports therapist, trainer and passionate barefoot runner. His expertise and passion lie in the field of biomechanics: applying physical mechanics to the study of human and animal movements.

Social impact and sustainability

In June 2022 Wildling Shoes, as the first shoe brand in Germany, has the B Corp received certification. B Corp stands for Benefit Corporation and is an international certification for companies that have a major, positive impact on people and the environment. The global movement of affiliates pursues one common goal: using business as a force for good. This pursuit is in the DNA of Wildling Shoes.

Since its foundation, Wildling Shoes has pursued a regenerative approach in all aspects of the business: We are part of the Re:generation. For example, the shoes are made from recycled materials and we only work with partners who safeguard the well-being of their employees.
