Anyone who owns an Apple Watch can count themselves lucky. At all because of the many useful functionalities, of course, but from this fall it will really get a lot better. Apple is working a spicy pleasant update.
Last year, three new Apple Watch models saw the light of day. The most startling was the Ultra, which we hadn’t seen yet. You don’t have to expect such a big surprise next year. Still, it does not mean that Apple wants to make a big impression with its smartwatches.
Your Apple Watch gets a major makeover
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, we can expect a major renewal of the Apple Watch. Not only in existing models, but also older models that will support the new software.
The Cupertino company plans to give the Apple Watch software a major makeover. This means more than the annual watchOS update that you are used to. In fact, it will be the biggest update since its initial release in 2015, according to Gurman.
Unfortunately, the Bloomberg journalist is still a bit secretive about what exactly we can expect from watchOS 10. The major improvements to the smartwatch’s software would include an updated interface. It remains to be seen which (new) functions will come.
Don’t expect too much from new models
The big update to watchOS 10 has a good reason. If we are to believe the rumors, the hardware update for the new Apple Watch models will be a very small one. As a result, the company must therefore distinguish itself in a different way.
And that is especially a big advantage for people who already have an Apple Watch. Presumably the big update will come to the Series 5 and the newer models. With your old clock you suddenly have a lot of new functions, provided that the hardware supports them.
So if you do want a new Apple Watch, you don’t have to wait until next year, according to rumors, since you can also install watchOS 10 on the Series 8, SE and Ultra. We will probably know exactly what that update will look like during WWDC in early June.
