The holiday season is the time of year that we look forward to en masse. In any case, you won’t be anywhere without your Apple Watch during your holiday. It’s a perfect companion on its own, but with this one handy feature, it’s sure to become your best friend.
What the hell are we talking about? Although you can spend your holiday in the Netherlands, it is still a popular choice to go abroad. Of course, this often entails a (small) language barrier. Your Apple Watch can help you with that.
I’m going on vacation and I’m taking… my Apple Watch!
Now you probably know that you can quickly pull up a translation app on your iPhone to do the hard work for you, but there’s no need to take your phone out of your pocket or bag if you have an Apple Watch.
The only downside is that you have to set Siri’s language to English first. You can do this via the Institutions bee Siri and search below Language. Unfortunately, Dutch is not yet supported. As long as your English is OK, this shouldn’t be a problem.
Siri as a personal translation assistant
Then simply ask Siri your translation question in English and the virtual assistant will help you on your way. For example, ask: “Hi Siri, how do you say ‘Can I have the check?’ in France?” and you will know the result in no time.
Fortunately, Siri also lets you know how to pronounce the word or phrase. If you want to listen to the pronunciation again, you can use the play button next to the translation. Repetition is key!
You can have a total of 11 languages translated by Siri on your Apple Watch. In addition to English and French, you can also contact the smart assistant for Italian, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Russian and Japanese. You should definitely be able to get through your holiday with that.
