Tough lady: Elizabeth Deignan makes comeback in Walloon Arrow after 2nd pregnancy

Surprising name in the selection of Trek-Segafredo for the Walloon Arrow: Elizabeth Deignan makes her comeback in the peloton earlier than planned, after she became a mother for the second time in September last year with a son who was named Shea. Initially, the 34-year-old British did not pin a back number until the Vuelta.

She announced her return via an Instagram post and added a photo with her two children.

Deignan’s last race dates from October 2021, when she rode The Women’s Tour. Two days earlier, she won the very first women’s edition of Paris-Roubaix. In February 2022, she announced that she was pregnant again and was not going to play again that season. She could count on the support of her Trek-Segafredo team, which extended her contract until 2024.

First comeback

‘Lizzie’ also welcomed a daughter, Orla, in 2018, and thus returns to the peloton for the second time. Her first comeback was a great success. She immediately finished seventh in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. A year later she even won in La Doyenne and also won La Course and the GP Plouay.

She also won the world title in Richmond in 2015 by beating Anna van der Breggen. The Tour of Flanders and the Strade Bianche are also on her list of achievements.

This season, the Tour de France, which she is contesting for the first time, and the World Cup in Glasgow are her main goals.
