Google’s Pixel 7a may be released long before the summer launch of its predecessors. Apparently, the Pixel 7 release date is very close to Google I/O.
The original Pixel 3a series debuted at Google I/O 2019 and was immediately available in stores. The release schedule was promptly broken the following year, however, as COVID-19-related delays eventually pushed the Pixel 4a release to August. The Pixel 5a followed the same scheme. Last year, the Pixel 6a was announced at Google I/O, but it didn’t go on sale until July of the same year, about two months later.
This year, it looks like the Pixel 7a release date will be significantly closer to Google I/O.
snoopy technologya fairly reliable leaker, says that Pixel 7a retail units will hit stores within the next two weeks, meaning the on-sale date is not. Also far from. With Google I/O happening on May 10, it’s perfectly reasonable to think that if units are already hitting stores in the next few weeks, we could see the Pixel 7a release date in the same week.
But this is nothing more than an observation at this point as there is nothing concrete to point to such an early launch. A previous retail leak suggested the Pixel 7a would arrive in mid-June alongside the Pixel Fold – parasitic’The tweet added that there is currently no sign of the Pixel Fold units going to stores.
In addition to stock data, Parasitic He adds that there’s no fourth “Jade” color for the Pixel 7a as previously suggested, meaning the color options will stick to black, white and blue, as we’ve seen in recent leaks. It looks like Jade will be available for accessories, we can confirm.
The Pixel 7a is expected to come with Google’s Tensor G2 chipset, a 90Hz display, improved cameras and the addition of wireless charging.
