PSV wins narrowly against FC Volendam and puts Ajax under pressure

In a blistering match, PSV narrowly won 2-3 against FC Volendam on Sunday during the 29th round of the Eredivisie. This victory puts pressure on Ajax, which will play against FC Emmen later that evening. PSV initially seemed comfortable on their way to victory with goals from Luuk de Jong and Guus Til. However, after the break FC Volendam came back with two consecutive hits. Xavier Mbuyamba first made it 1-2, after which Daryl van Mieghem made it 2-3 after Til’s second goal.

Ruud van Nistelrooij’s team managed to hold on in an exciting final phase and did good business in the battle for the top positions in the Eredivisie. PSV is now eight points behind leader Feyenoord, who won 0-3 against SC Cambuur later that day. PSV and Ajax seem to be fighting for second place, with PSV now three points ahead of the national champion.
