The conservative social app Parler has a new owner who immediately took the service offline. The intention is to integrate Parler into its existing services.
Starboard, which owns American Wire News, closed Parler indefinitely after the service was bought from Parliament Technologies.
Starboard considers renewal of Parler necessary. “No reasonable person believes that a Twitter clone is viable only for conservatives.”
Parler was launched in 2018 as an alternative to Twitter. It had few rules and hardly any moderation.
Like Gab, the Parler became a haven for those with extreme views. Apple and Google kicked Parler out of their app stores, and that was basically the end of it, even though the app eventually returned. Kamye West then wanted to buy the platform, but decided against it.
