Gucci introduces retro-inspired MAC80 sneaker
Clearly retro-inspired, the new Gucci MAC80 sneaker debuts in a whopping seven vintage-effect colors.
As Gucci continues to reshape its identity under the leadership of its wider creative team and the appointment of Sabato de Sarno as its new lead Creative Director, the house is quietly releasing products that welcome a new era. For its latest move, Gucci unveils the MAC80 sneaker.
Available in seven colorways – ranging from black or white leather versions to blue, green or red satin panels – the new Gucci MAC80 draws from the retro low-top basketball sneakers of the 1970s and 1980s. Gucci achieves this aesthetic through creating a padded, cushioned, ventilated construction centered around a textile panel in the center section with an “Interlocking G” motif in the center.
A slight amount of discoloration and wear is visible across multiple colorways and scuffs and black rub marks are added to the Gucci embroidered tongues and yellow aged midsole. Likewise, the flat laces and the “Interlocking G” panel are very slightly discolored, adding to the vintage effect.
Gucci’s new sneaker retails for €750, and all pairs are now available for purchase online or in-store.
