New MacBooks WWDC

The WWDC is all about Apple’s operating systems. The company announces major software updates here every year for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and more. This by means of an extensive presentation, in which almost all new functions are highlighted. What will we see this year? These include iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10.

However, it does not always stop with software. New hardware products are also regularly revealed during WWDC. Just like this year: there have been rumors for months that the Apple Reality – Apple’s first AR/VR headset – will be announced here. And it doesn’t stop there, because according to the latest rumors, new MacBooks will also be announced during this event. So claims the usually reliable Apple analyst Mark Gurman.

Which MacBooks will be announced?

According to Gurman, Apple is currently working on three different MacBooks. These include refreshed versions of the 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, as well as a brand new 15-inch MacBook Air. The first two in particular are a surprise, because the latter has been rumored since 2021.

Which of these MacBooks will be unveiled at WWDC, Gurman does not dare to say. He does write, however, that they are ‘probably not’ getting an M3 chip, or the next generation Apple chip. Instead, they get processors that are “in line with” the M2 chip. Sounds cryptic, but mostly confusing. Apple is currently already selling a 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with an M2 chip, so it remains a mystery what will be new in these models.

WWDC 2023

This year’s WWDC will take place from Monday, June 5 to Friday, June 9. The Apple event itself will be held on the very first day, probably at 7 p.m. Dutch time.
