Dutch girls battle against the wind at the Kansas Relays

Lawrence, KN – On another windy day in Kansas, the Central College track and field team ended the trip to the Kansas Relays on Saturday with significant experiences.

Before Central’s 4x400m relay team could participate, the competition was called off due to bad weather.

“Not only was it windy, it was also cold and rainy,” coach said Brandon Sturman said.

In the final of the 400 meter race Abbie Roerdink (Jr., Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Louton HS) He finished seventh in 1 minute and 0.68 seconds.

“In the end it was a good experience for her,” said Sturman. “It’s a chance to get used to running on consecutive days, like we do at a conference. She had a hard time on a track.”

4×100 meter relay team Mary Gustason (Marion, Linn-Mar HS), Olivia Pollan (Belle Plain), Willa is no problem (Brimker, South O’Brien HS) And Emily MacMartin (bella) Finished eighth in 49.51 seconds.

“They ran better than Friday in worse conditions,” Sturman said. “They also had a tough draw on a track. The more we ride that race, the better it will turn out. This experience will serve us well during conferences.”

Central has a few meetings in Nebraska next week. Several event teams will be in Crete, Nebraska for the John Green Combined Events hosted by Doane University on Thursdays and Fridays. The other teams will be in Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson Triangle on Saturday.
