This concept is well known to Belgian readers. But I think that no baptism sugar is given in the Netherlands (correct me if I’m wrong). To say thank you to family and friends for their gift and visit, we give a personalized bag/box/… filled with sugar beans. A birth can be celebrated, so I indulged myself twice to make the girls’ baptism sugar and birth cards myself.

Baptism sugar
Usually I have to search for days and days on pinterest before I find an idea I like. Most of the time nothing is left of the first idea. I think there were at least 20 different designs before I took the plunge. Combining being pregnant with making decisions is not easy. But in the end, the concept took shape twice.
Finding the material together is easy. At Ellie I bought the stamp somewhere online and for Oone I made the stickers myself.
I found the rest of the material in AVA: the stamp pads, the letters, the paint, the bags, the envelopes and the baptismal sugar. You will also find a lot baskets and other presentation options, but we opted for a family suitcase. It has already served for many babies, weddings and children’s parties.
The birth card

The birth announcement was made by Ellie’s godfather. With Ellie we chose a baby giraffe for no special reason and of course Oone’s card also had to be a baby animal and it became a zebra. I love that both cards look alike. I really like that minimalist style in black and white.
Ellie’s cards had a gold border after printing. We sent Oone’s card in no time, because we also realized that it was a lot of work for such a small detail (the fate of a second one?). And anyone who knows me knows that the cards have nice rounded corners.
