PSV has not lost 11 matches and seems to be on its way to second place in a real final sprint.
Still, it does not or hardly appeal to many analysts. For example, analysts Wim Kieft and Wesley Sneijder are not exactly impressed by what PSV shows. The former internationals are critical of Ruud van Nistelrooij’s working method. Midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré also has to suffer.
So there are supposedly doubts about the approach of the trainer. “What you can give to Ruud is the fact that he lost two of his best players in the winter break,” Kieft said at Veronica Offside.
Kieft is of course referring to attackers Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo. Yet Kieft finds it too easy to point to that as the cause of the mediocre game. “You just don’t see a way of playing football. You’ve never been able to discover that before.’ Kieft is hard on van Nistelrooij and is therefore certainly not impressed by Van Nistelrooij’s work.
‘The sentiment is negative, but that’s not surprising. Expectations are very high at a club like PSV. Also about his future as a trainer, but we are now a season further. And I have not yet seen any idea of the way he wants to play football, “says Kieft, who receives support from his fellow analysts.
