Club Brugge got no further than a 0-0 draw at Westerlo. A place in the Champions’ Play-Offs seems far away for blue black.
Club Brugge could not shake the nets against Westerlo, although it also collided with a strong goalkeeper Sinan Bolat for the home team. This loss of points makes it very difficult for Rik De Mil’s troops to finish in the top four.
KAA Gent also only played a draw on Sunday, but because they have to go to the field against KV Oostende on the final matchday, it seems over and out for Club Brugge. “We should certainly not give up just yet,” said goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to Het Nieuwsblad. “But if it doesn’t work, it will have gone wrong before in Westerlo. However, there is nothing we can do to change that now.”
Club Brugge mainly forgot to score in Westerlo. Mignolet therefore takes into account the fact that it will be Play-Off 2. “If we actually have to play in Play-off 2, we will just try to win it. We owe that to our status as Club Brugge. This was perhaps our best match in a long time.”
